On Saturday, my daughter (who happens to be my photographer) and I attended the Operation 22 Car Show at Griot's Garage in Tacoma. The Operation 22 show was a charity event where all the proceeds went to veterans organizations, as the founders of the show are all currently serving or are vets themselves. The lead image is the "Best in Show" winner. A one owner, 1967 Camaro. That paper you see on the core support? That's the original invoice. For $87, you could get the optional 327 V-8 in your Camaro. I think the sticker on it was just a tick over $3000 (he did pay the $8 for floor mats and got the seatbelts too).

When I take my daughter to a car show, I hand her a camera (my iPotato in this case) and basically follow her around and let her take pictures of the cars she's interested in.

Sans a couple of fingers in the shots, she does a pretty good job.

(yes, that's Niki Lauda's Ferrari)

I took this one of her and a friend she made during the awards portion of the show. She won that hat (and a bunch of other stuff) in the raffle (her other favorite part about going to shows with me).

Speaking of awards...

MY FIRST CAR SHOW AWARD!!! Aces was chosen as "Best In Works". Totally unexpected.

congrats on your trophy! That's a really badass looking trophy, and more over -really kick ass of the show to support the "in progress" cars.

I kind of have no reason to stay until the end of a car show with the Montego, this would keep me from dipping out early.

It was the second show I've been to that had an "in progress" award. The other was the Puget Sound Toyota Owner's Festival (PSTOF) 2013. That one went to a friend's first gen Celica Liftback.

was totally behind a first gen celica on the way to work today. I'm not a big Toyota guy, but damn it's a cool looking little old car.

NICE! Love that engine bay, and those ITBs. I dare say, that's not the stock setup is it?

Nope, not stock. Also not ITBs. Mikuni 44mm Carbs with trumpets. Motor is a 20/22R Hybrid (20R head on an early 22R double roller timing setup block). Bored, decked, port & polish, oversized valves, Delta 272 cam...

I really need to find someone who can show me how to tune the carbs though.

sorry, I see carbs, and think ITB's. I actually just rebuilt a little Mikuni carb yesterday. It is beautiful though. I bet it is a blast to drive, or will be once you get those tuned.
